New Role / Modified Stops on July 4th
The Lowcountry Regional Transportation Authority has appointed Charles Mitchell Jr. as Executive Director of Palmetto Breeze, effective June 1. Mitchell has served on the LRTA Board of Directors since 2019 and as Board Chair since 2022. Agency leaders say his appointment marks a new chapter for public transportation, with a continued focus on serving the community and meeting the transportation needs of the growing Lowcountry.
A Hilton Head Island native, Mitchell joins us today to talk about his new role, his vision for the future of public transportation in the Lowcountry, and what riders can expect during Palmetto Breeze’s free July 4 trolley service.
