SPORTS REPORT

Hey, it’s time for Last Night in the Lowco on WHHI, powered by LowcoSports.com!

The Fox is back in The Den at Bluffton High School, and the Bobcat boys soccer team began its second era under coach Josh Fox with an impressive showing Wednesday with a 5-0 result against visiting Beaufort HIgh. Team Lowco’s Wes Kerr captured the highlights as sophomore Michael Chirinos scored a brace and Michael Boyle, Dorian Fuñez, and Josue Sanchez each added a goal for the Bobcats in a dominant effort against the defending Class 3A Lower State champs.

The Warrior Invitational also got underway at Whale Branch and Battery Creek, where the Bridges Prep girls topped the Dolphins 3-1, Groves downed the Whale Branch girls 5-3, Battery Creek’s boys beat Whale Branch 5-1, and Bridges Prep’s boys played Groves to a 1-1 draw.

Elsewhere on the soccer pitch, Hampton County’s girls notched a 2-1 overtime win over Colleton County, while the Cougars blanked the Canes 4-nil in the boys game, and the Patrick Henry boys opened their season with a 2-0 win over Branchville.

The Hilton Head Christian Academy golf team began its state title defense in style, shooting 2-under-par 142 over nine holes to edge Heritage Academy by five shots in a nine-team meet at Hilton Head Lakes, with Sage Bradshaw firing a 4-under 32 to lead the way and claim medalist honors.

HHCA also launched a new era last night with the boys lacrosse program making its debut, albeit in a 12-4 loss at Porter-Gaud. Gotta start somewhere.

And the USCB Sand Sharks took a pair of losses at Columbus State last night as they wind down their inaugural basketball season. One more Saturday at Augusta.

We have another busy slate of spring sports on tap tonight, so tune in to the Lowco Media Network at 10pm for the LowcoSports Lowdown to get up to speed.

For LowcoSports and WHHI, I’m Justin Jarrett. Until next time, Go Lowco!
