In honor of Earth Day, Lowcountry Food Bank will have an Earth Day Matching Challenge April 19th – April 22nd
This Earth Day, we are proud to partner up with our good friends at Crews Subaru to double the impact of donations and provide twice as many nourishing meals for Lowcountry children, families, and seniors who experience food insecurity.
For every $1 donated, our community can help provide not 5 but 10 nutritious meals. Help us reach our goal of $15,000 before April 22! Together, we are creating a nourished and thriving coastal South Carolina.

At Lowcountry Food Bank, our sustainability committee champions environmentally responsible business practices.
We define sustainability as the ability to meet our current needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
We work to increase our sustainability practices every year. These practices focus on efficient and effective solutions that are better for society and the environment, including:
• Decreasing our carbon footprint and
• Reuse and recycling of materials
In 2023, Lowcountry Food Bank recovered 15 million pounds of nutritious, high-quality food from our grocery partners that might otherwise be discarded - and distributed it to neighbors who experience food insecurity.
Here are a few of the sustainability efforts we have put into place at Lowcountry Food Bank:
• LED Lighting Upgrades: energy use reduction
• Routing Software Implementation: fuel & emissions reduction
• Staff & Volunteer Water Bottle Filling Stations: plastic waste reduction
• Plug-In Electric-Standby Truck Refrigeration Units: diesel emissions reduction
• Zucker Family Kitchen: has been composting and recycling since 2010
• Operations Recycling: Cardboard and pallets
