Growth of Girls Flag Football in SC and New Beaufort County Girls High School Flag Football League!
The Carolina Panthers, in partnership with six Beaufort County high schools, celebrated the start of the new Beaufort County Girls High School Flag Football League at May River High School.
Carolina Panthers Charities provided $15,000 in grant funding to support the new six-team league. In addition, the Panthers are providing additional support with equipment kits for each school as well as Nike uniform grants.
Girls flag football is rapidly expanding across South Carolina, with the goal of the sport being sanctioned at the varsity level.
We've seen increased access and opportunity to the sport at the high school level, which has seen tremendous growth at the collegiate level as well, creating pathways for student-athletes to compete and continue their education at a higher level.
In May, The David & Nicole Tepper Foundation (DNTF) announced a $1 million commitment to continue its support of girls high school flag football programs in both North Carolina and South Carolina, which will provide grant funding directly to schools to support the continued growth and development of the sport in both states.
