Paving Work on the William Hilton Parkway
Hilton Head Island, S.C. – APAC Southeast, the contractor for the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT), continues night-time paving work on William Hilton Parkway.
This paving work consists of milling the existing asphalt pavement and paving an intermediate binder course of asphalt, and then later paving a surface course (approximately 2 inches thick). Thus far, only the intermediate binder course has been paved.
There have been several inquiries made about the smoothness of this pavement. The surface course has not yet been installed, but will be paved at a later date and provide a much smoother riding surface. As the final surface course is complete, the shoulders will be dressed to remove excess soil and asphalt millings.
