Music on Malphrus offers a series of live performances for singer/song-writers!
Mostly, our local venues offer performers who play popular songs and styles called cover bands, which we love. Their music is not original but it’s great background music for singing along, dancing, and enjoying in the background while eating out and sharing drinks. Our stage is for singer/ songwriters. Their music is original. Not only are they talented musicians but their tunes and heartfelt lyrics are written by them. We offer national and international performers, up-and-coming talent, an opportunity to stop in our community between their larger venues. Genres are folk, blues, rock even Zydeco. Lyric could be current events, social justice, folk tales or just be playful.
Our venue is the Unitarian Universalist Congregation building in Bluffton. The address is 110 Malphrus Rd. The performances begin at 7:00. Tickets are $25, available online or at the door. The performance is two hours with intermission. Refreshments are available with plenty of parking.
An acoustical listening room differs from bar or restaurant music where people are eating, drinking, talking and dancing. Rather than background music, music lovers have an opportunity to listen to the message and appreciate the mastery of the instruments.
Jacob Johnson will be singing and strumming his original music, Friday, April 19 at 7:00 at UUCL in Bluffton. What’s unique about Johnson is his uses the strings to pick out the melody and simultaneously uses two handed percussion. His mastery on the guitar is exciting and accommodates his heartfelt words and crystal voice.
