Raising awareness for food insecurity & fighting hunger in the Low Country
50 Million pounds of food rescued since 1992
-3.4 Million distributed in 2023 to 54 local pantries/soup kitchens
-We purchased 168,000lbs of Fresh produce (Fruits & Vegetables) to supplement what we rescued. This food was paid for by grants and generous donations from the community. This went to help our friends and neighbors have a better more well balanced diet.
-In 2023 we welcomed 135 new volunteers across Beaufort, Bluffton & HHI
-In 2023 we added 7 new Pantries TWO of which were on HHI:
Providence Presbyterian: Serving Mid Island & South end
Christ Lutheran: Serving the mid-island and Chimney Cove residents
Most Importantly, the reallocation and redistribution of food are based on what our agencies need. It is based on how many people they serve each week/month. We know how much food we have picked up from our 50+ food donors. We have been tracking the exact poundage for the last two years of every truck route throughout BFRT/Jasper/Hampton counties). That allows us to allocate and deliver to our agencies what they need, making every pound count and go where it needs to and is not wasted.
