MUSEUM: The Pat Conroy Literary Center is located at 601 Bladen St in Beaufort and open for public tours from noon to 4PM on Thursdays through Sundays. Three exhibit gallery rooms and the education room have artifacts, artwork, photos, manuscripts, and other memorabilia from Pat Conroy’s dozen books and corresponding 5 film adaptions.

ONGOING FREE MONTHLY PROGRAMS:
(1) CHILDREN’S TEDDY BEAR PICNIC: Community read-aloud program at the Port Royal Farmers Market in Naval Heritage Park. First Saturday of each month from 9:30 to noon at the gazebo. Student volunteers from the DAYLO book club read picture books and chapter books to young readers and their families.
August 2: Free books giveaways thanks to a donation from the nonprofit Lisa Libraries.
(2) OPEN MIC NIGHT: Opportunity to experience short readings from a variety of local writers in many genres, each reading for 3 to 5 minutes from the original works. A featured guest author closes out each open mic night. Second Thursday of each month from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. In person during the even months, virtual during the odd months.
August 14: Guest author Michael Spake, debut novel: Life Close to the Bone (about intersections of law and healthcare—and tennis)
(3) SILENT BOOK CLUB: Bring Your Own Book for an hour of silent reading, book-ended by opportunities to meet fellow readers and share some recommendations and a book swap. Third Saturday of each month (except when it isn’t), 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Cosponsored by DAYLO and hosted by Ashley Meijerink
August 23: Next monthly meet-up.
In addition to a robust calendar of visiting author programs, workshops, book club discussions, lectures, and annual large-scale signature events like the Pat Conroy Literary Festival, Lowcountry Book Club Convention, and the Camp Conroy summer camp.
