Bystander CPR / The Smart Heart Act
The first week of June was CPR & AED Awareness week, but this is important to talk about year-round.
CPR saves lives. Immediate CPR & AED use can double or even triple someone's chance of surviving a cardiac arrest.
More than 350,000 people and more than 23,000 children experience cardiac arrest outside of the hospital each year.
There are two steps to save a life: 1) Call 9-1-1 2) Push hard and fast in the center of the chest until help arrives or until an AED is available to use
A strong Cardiac Emergency Response Plan (CERP) can be the difference between life and death
The Smart Heart Act (H3831) will ensure that schools across South Carolina have a cardiac emergency response plan and the resources they need to save lives.
